🇹🇷🇮🇱 Erdogan Threatens Attack on Israel, 35 Officials Face Over 4,500 Years in Prison
ANKARA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that his country could attack Israel in connection with Israel's ongoing airstrikes in Lebanon.
Erdogan accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of being “blinded by blood and hatred” and stated that “there is no reason not to attack.”
“If Pakistan hadn’t mediated in the war between the US and Iran, we would have shown Israel their place… Just as we invaded Libya and Karabakh, we can also invade Israel,” he said.
This statement came after Turkish prosecutors filed charges against 35 Israeli officials, including Netanyahu, with a proposed total sentence of over 4,500 years in prison.
The charges include crimes against humanity, genocide, torture, and unlawful detention, according to the state news agency Anadolu.
Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek called the indictment “historic.”
Israel reacted strongly. Netanyahu accused Erdogan of “slaughtering his own Kurds.”
Israeli Defense Minister Katz called the Turkish leader a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and affirmed that Israel would continue to defend itself with strength.
Relations between Turkey and Israel, once closely cooperative, have deteriorated rapidly since the Israel-Hamas conflict. Turkey accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza and imposed a trade embargo starting in 2024.
