A Pakistani oil tanker, MT Karachi, carrying 80 million litres of crude oil, has entered Pakistan’s maritime zone after passing through the Strait of Hormuz—becoming the first national vessel to do so since its temporary closure due to regional tensions.

The tanker departed from Das Island on February 28, secured special clearance from Iran, and was escorted by the Pakistan Navy for safe transit.

The shipment is expected to arrive at Port Karachi on Wednesday and was reportedly settled in Chinese yuan, highlighting a shift toward alternative payment methods in regional energy trade.
