In forex, we have swaps. In crypto futures, it's funding rates.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of it. I get that it's a fee paid between long and short positions to keep the price aligned with the spot market, but how does it truly affect a trade over time?

Any experienced traders care to explain it like I'm a forex trader? Appreciate the help!
