🚨 THE FED IS WORRIED ABOUT FUNDING MARKETS -- AND I DON’T THINK THEY LET IT BREAK📈

The December FOMC minutes were pretty clear. The Fed is watching short-term funding markets and knows they could seize up if stress builds. That’s not an abstract risk. That’s the part of the system that actually keeps money moving day to day.

What stood out is what they weren’t talking about. This wasn’t about inflation. It wasn’t about long-term credit. It was about liquidity -- repo, money markets, overnight funding.

And that’s why I don’t think they just sit back and watch it break.

Any time this plumbing has come under real pressure, the Fed has stepped in. 2019 repo. 2020 COVID. 2023 banks. Different triggers, same response: liquidity shows up because letting funding freeze is how small problems turn into big ones.

So to me, this reads less like a warning and more like the early stages of preparation. They’re paying attention, which usually means tools are being readied, not that they’re comfortable letting things spiral.

For markets and especially crypto, this matters. Crypto feels liquidity stress early. It also tends to respond first when that pressure eases.

This doesn’t mean things rip tomorrow. But it does mean the Fed knows where the line is, and history says they don’t let funding markets cross it. 👀
