👋Hi, we've reached the long-awaited alt-season (most likely), which means it's time to talk about boring “psychology” and how not to be left without underpants in the pursuit of Xs.
Today we're going to talk about the scariest thing that mows people down faster than a coronavirus in the alt-season - it's personal, overexcited FOMO! (Yes, it's a lot of words, but don't give up and keep reading - it'll be useful.)
What is FOMO?
😱FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is when you're afraid that everyone around you is already making millions, and you're sitting there like a sucker with a couple of bucks on your balance sheet.
In the alt season, FOMO awakens with a special force. You see all sorts of meme-coins growing by 50432%, you read chats where people share their PNLs (often fake), and 10-year-old schoolchildren earn your annual salary in a day.
🤔How do you realize you're a prisoner of FOMO?
🟢 You stay up nights checking charts every 10 minutes.
🟢 You don't have a clear plan - you just want to “hurry up before it's too late!”.
🟢You get involved in projects or buy memes you only know the name of.
🟢You make deals on emotion, because “well, everyone has already bought, if I don't get in now, they'll leave without me” .
🟢You constantly monitor “gypsy chats” in order not to miss your “ticket” to a rich l
ife.
🤨Why is FOMO a problem?
FOMO is not about smart investing. It's about emotions that turn your brain off and into “now or never” mode. The market knows very well how to manipulate people like you. The charts purposely create false spikes and hype so that you buy at the peak when the big players are on their way out.
🪞How to beat FOMO so you don't become homeless:
🔴Remember, you're not going to miss ALL the chances.
The market is all about waves. If you missed one, there will be another. It's better to wait calmly for a new opportunity than to fly in on the highs.
🔴Make a plan.
Before you buy something, ask yourself questions: “Why am I buying this? Where will I get out? What risks am I willing to take?” If the answers aren't there, don't even think about getting in.
🔴Don't compare yourself to others.
There's a chat room talking about X's? Half are lying, the other half are at a disadvantage but are silent. Concentrate on your briefcase and don't listen to anyone.
🔴 Study the project.
Before you buy, understand what this coin is, who makes it and why you need it at all. If nothing is clear, forget it.
🔴Diversify.
Keep most of your money in more reliable assets with good fundamentals (VTS, ETN, VNB, etc.), put some money in promising projects with cool guys at the helm, and leave some small percentage (for example 10%) for tinkering with meme-coins. So, maybe you won't make money on lamba, but at least you'll still be in your underwear.
🔴 Control your emotions.
When you see a coin flying up, don't fly into it, pause. Look at the chart, read the analytics. Chances are you're late, but that's ok, you'll always find something else to do.
🚨 And remember the most important thing:
FOMO is an inner voice trying to trap you. Learn to ignore it, and you can survive this bull)
