RSI Divergence Cheat Sheet

RSI divergences are overrated if you're spotting them in the middle of nowhere.

A divergence without context is just noise. If it's not forming at key support/resistance, demand/supply zones, or near liquidity pools, it's irrelevant.

Here are five reasons why most divergences fail:

1. No structural anchor

A bearish divergence at a random price level means nothing. Price doesn't reverse because RSI said so. You need resistance, supply, or a liquidity sweep to give the divergence weight. Without structure, momentum just keeps pushing through.

2. Liquidity is what fuels reversals

Divergences work when they align with liquidity hunts. Price sweeps equal highs, grabs stops, then forms a divergence at that level—now you have a setup. But a divergence forming 5% below any liquidity pool? Worthless. The market needs fuel to turn around.

3. Support/resistance levels define where the auction matters

Divergences at respected macro support/resistance are valid. Divergences in no man's land are not. Price has memory at levels where it struggled before. If your divergence isn't forming at a level that historically mattered, skip it.

4. RSI can stay divergent longer than your account can stay solvent

I've seen RSI print three to four divergences while price keeps grinding up. Without a proper invalidation level tied to structure, you're just fading momentum with no edge. This is how traders blow up accounts—they take divergences too early without waiting for the right context.

5. Confluence makes the trade, not the divergence alone

A divergence by itself is not enough. A divergence at the 0.75 Fibonacci level + supply zone + liquidity sweep + macro resistance—that's a trade. The divergence is just confirmation.

Don't take every divergence you spot. Wait for the ones at key levels with proper structure and liquidity context.

That's the difference between a setup and a guess.
