The Fabric Foundation is basically building the first digital society where machines can live and work just like people do. At its core this project gives every machine its own digital passport so it has a unique identity that everyone can trust. This is a huge deal because it mean a machine can now own its own data and even have its own bank account to handle money. Instead of just being a tool controlled by a big company the machine becomes an independent worker that can pay for its own electricity or repairs using a specific digital currency called $ROBO

The main features are built around a universal language that lets different types of machines talk to each other and coordinate tasks without any person needing to step in. They have also created something called skill chips which are like a digital marketplace for physical abilities. If a machine need to learn how to move boxes or clean a floor its owner can simply download that specific skill into its brain. This create a whole new economy where developers get paid for making machines smarter and more useful in the real world.

In the very near future the biggest activity we will see is the full rollout of a dedicated system designed specifically for human shaped machines. This will allow fleets of these machines to perform complex jobs in warehouses and cities while earning rewards for the actual work they complete. It is a total shift from machines being simple hardware to machines becoming active participants in our global economy.
