The SEC has officially approved Nasdaq's rule change to enable tokenized securities trading
Investors will be able to choose, on a trade-by-trade basis, whether to settle their Nasdaq-listed securities in traditional form or tokenized form through a DTC-run blockchain pilot.
The Depository Trust Company (DTC) clears roughly $2.5 quadrillion in securities transactions annually, so even a small slice of activity moving to blockchain settlement is massive.
