I’ve been thinking about something while playing lately. Two players can do the same actions, same time, same effort… and still feel completely different. One is actually playing, the other just repeating.
Pixels does a great job making the loop smooth. You always know what to do next, nothing feels forced. But that’s also where it gets tricky. When everything is predictable, people stop playing for fun and start playing for output.
At scale, that matters. Because the system can’t always tell who’s there to play and who’s there to farm. And if both get rewarded the same, the experience slowly shifts.
Feels like Pixels is starting to notice this. Less about pushing rewards, more about understanding behavior.
Real question is simple: can a game tell the difference between effort and intent?
