I’ve seen a lot of people say Pixels has a strong token system because of how PIXEL is used, so I tried to look at it from a different angle.
When you spend tokens in-game, it feels like you’re putting value back into the world. Upgrades, progression, all of that. And since some of those tokens get removed, it gives that sense of scarcity.
But I couldn’t ignore the other side.
If the game is handing out more tokens through rewards than it’s removing, then the effect isn’t as big as it sounds. It’s easy to focus on the “burn” idea, but that’s not the full picture.
What I find interesting is how it’s all tied to player actions. You don’t really think about it while playing, but every decision connects back to the token in some way.
Most people won’t look deeper into it.
But if you care about where things are going, it’s worth paying attention.
