Iran Accuses US of Undermining Diplomacy Amid Rising Tensions

Iran has accused the United States of sabotaging ongoing diplomatic efforts through what it describes as repeated provocations and violations of a fragile ceasefire.

According to Iran’s state broadcaster, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a series of high-level phone calls with key international counterparts, raising concerns about Washington’s recent actions. In a conversation with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Araghchi emphasized that continued US provocations—including reported targeting of commercial vessels—are eroding trust and destabilizing diplomatic progress.

Araghchi also spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, stressing that US actions appear inconsistent with its stated commitment to diplomacy. Lavrov, in response, reaffirmed Russia’s support for maintaining the Pakistan-mediated ceasefire and continuing negotiations.

The situation remains fluid as uncertainty surrounds the next round of talks between Tehran and Washington. While US President Donald Trump indicated that Vice President JD Vance is en route to Islamabad for discussions, Iran has sent mixed signals regarding its participation in the upcoming negotiations.

With tensions still high and trust fragile, the future of diplomatic engagement between the two nations hangs in the balance.
