I’ve seen this story play out more times than I can count. A new Web3 game drops, the timeline fills with excitement, user numbers spike—and for a moment, it feels like something real is happening. PIXELS gives off that same energy. The world is engaging, the farming loop is oddly satisfying, and the social layer pulls you in just enough to keep you coming back.

But I can’t ignore the pattern.

Early growth in crypto games is rarely about connection—it’s about incentives. People show up because there’s something to earn, something to flip, something to gain before the window closes. And right now, PIXELS is riding that wave well. The question is what happens when that wave slows down.

I don’t think privacy features or on-chain ownership will be the deciding factor here. Most players aren’t thinking about that. They’re thinking: is this fun, and are my friends still here? If the answer becomes no, they won’t hesitate to move on.

I want PIXELS to prove me wrong. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s this—hype creates momentum, not loyalty. And loyalty is the only thing that lasts.
