The U.S. has ordered major chip equipment firms to halt some shipments to China’s second-largest chipmaker, Hua Hong.
Hua Hong had been developing tech for AI chips, and was preparing a 7 nm chipmaking process that only SMIC, China's largest contract chipmaker, can currently produce.
