Hi, I’m a trader and the last 6 months have been one of the hardest periods for me in crypto.

So many things happened during this time. Tariffs, wars, global panic, and nonstop negative news pushed the market down badly. I bought Bitcoin near 120k thinking the market would continue higher, but after all the fear and uncertainty, Bitcoin dropped all the way near 78k. That left me in a huge paper loss.

At first, I thought the best thing to do was stop trading completely because I was scared of losing even more money. Even though I still had stable assets available to buy more and average down my position, fear stopped me from doing anything. I kept waiting and hoping the market would recover quickly.

But after months of watching the market struggle just to stop falling and recover a little, I realized something important.

Old losses can take a very long time to recover. Sometimes months. Sometimes years. And while being scared of those old losses, we can miss new opportunities completely.

This experience taught me two important lessons.

First, stop loss is always important. It hurts to take a loss, but controlled losses are much easier to handle than being trapped in massive drawdowns for months.

Second, being too afraid to trade again after a loss can sometimes create even bigger missed opportunities. Fear protects you from risk, but it can also stop you from taking smart opportunities when the market changes.

I’m still learning, but these 6 months changed the way I see trading and risk management forever.
