SlowMist analysis indicates the Squid incident was linked to a vulnerable SquidRouterModule used by certain Safe wallets, not a private-key compromise. Attackers were reportedly able to forge messages, bypass checks, and trigger Top-tier exchange-related fund transfer operations from affected wallets.

This reinforces a key institutional custody lesson: smart contract modules can create attack surfaces even when signer keys remain intact. Traders should monitor protocol disclosures, wallet permissions, and module approvals before assuming custody infrastructure is fully secure.
