Trust May Be the Most Valuable Layer in AI

I have been in crypto long enough to know that the market loves big stories. Every cycle brings a new narrative that promises to change everything. Some survive, most do not. That experience has made me pay less attention to excitement and more attention to the problems that still matter when the hype disappears.

That is one reason OpenGradient caught my attention.

When I look at the direction of AI, I do not think intelligence will remain the scarce resource for much longer. Models are improving rapidly, access is expanding, and capabilities continue to grow. What feels scarce to me is trust. We are entering a world where AI can generate answers, make recommendations, and influence decisions at scale, yet most people have very little visibility into how those outputs are produced.

I am not assuming OpenGradient has solved this challenge. Infrastructure projects often face difficult questions around adoption, incentives, and real-world execution. The gap between an idea and a functioning network is rarely small.

Still, I find it interesting that the conversation around OpenGradient focuses on verification rather than promises. That stands out in a sector that often prioritizes narratives over fundamentals.

I keep coming back to the same thought: the next phase of AI may not belong to those who create the most intelligence. It may belong to those who make intelligence trustworthy enough for people to rely on.
