Did You Know Bitcoin's Very First Block Contains a Secret Protest Message?
On January 3, 2009, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin —Satoshi Nakamoto— mined the genesis block which is the foundation of the entire blockchain.
Hidden inside this block's coinbase transaction (the special field where miners can add arbitrary data) is a cryptic message.
The message reads.....
"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks."
This was a direct quote from the headline of that day's edition of The Times (London), criticizing the UK government's massive bank bailouts amid the global financial crisis.
It seen as Satoshi's quiet rebellion: a timestamp proving Bitcoin's launch date, while subtly slamming centralized banking, endless money printing, and taxpayer-funded rescues of failing institutions.
outlining Bitcoin not as just new tech but born as a direct response to the flaws exposed in 2008.
