It’s not enough to cover a total apocalypse (nothing is), but it’s a dedicated buffer for "bad debt" events. If a liquidation fails or slippage is too high during a crash, this fund eats the loss before the users do.
It’s a layer of defense that most copy-paste forks don't bother setting up. It shows they are planning for the "unknown unknowns."
