Japan launches JFIIP accelerator on XRPL with Ripple

Asia Web3 Alliance Japan (AWAJ) and Web3 Salon have announced the JFIIP initiative in collaboration with Ripple Labs and major Japanese financial institutions. The accelerator is designed to fund Japanese startups building “compliant” financial solutions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), aiming to bridge traditional finance (TradFi) and Web3 while delivering institutional-grade blockchain applications.

Unlike typical crypto hackathons, JFIIP focuses strictly on compliant finance, targeting tools that can be practically used by banks and financial institutions. Key areas include Ripple’s payment infrastructure (including RLUSD), tokenization of real-world assets such as real estate, bonds and commodities, and credit infrastructure.

Strategic partners include Mizuho Bank, SMBC Nikko Securities, Securitize Japan and venture capital firm HIRAC FUND. Startups receive a modest grant of around $10,000, but the main value lies in access to Ripple’s global grant ecosystem and direct mentorship from top-tier bankers. The move highlights Japan’s favorable regulatory environment and growing interest from major banks in adopting XRPL for future payments and digital asset infrastructure.
