Activision has announced that its enhanced RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system achieved record-breaking efficiency — blocking 97% of cheaters within just 30 minutes during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta test.

But instead of celebration, the community erupted in skepticism. Many players accused Activision of “gaslighting” and claimed that the reality on the ground looks very different.

RICOCHET Reacted Instantly — Yet Players Doubt the Numbers
According to Activision, RICOCHET kicked in immediately after the beta went live, with less than 1% of cheating attempts making it into actual matches. Developers said that improved TPM 2.0 checks and automated detection systems allowed them to identify and remove cheaters faster than ever before.
“Cheaters were expected — but our systems are now catching them before they can do real damage,” the RICOCHET team stated.
Most hackers, Activision added, operate on PC, which is why the company introduced Trusted Platform Module (TPM 2.0) verification requiring secure boot. However, this move angered Linux players, who argued it prevents them from running the game on anything other than Windows.

40 Cheat Networks Shut Down — Yet Players Cry “Fake Stats”
Activision also revealed that since the release of Black Ops 6 in 2024, its enforcement teams have helped shut down over 40 cheat developers and distributors.

Many of those now label their tools as “unusable” or “detected.”

YouTuber WhoIsImmortal even shared footage showing hackers using aimbots and shooting through walls just three hours after the beta launched. Although the official Call of Duty Updates account claimed those players were banned, fans questioned whether it only happened due to social media pressure.

Battlefield Is Winning the Numbers Game
Despite Activision’s aggressive anti-cheat push, Black Ops 7 is trailing behind Battlefield 6.

According to SteamDB, Battlefield 6 peaked at 521,000 concurrent players during its open beta, overshadowing Black Ops 7’s 99,000.

On Twitch, Battlefield also dominates in viewership — a sign that Call of Duty’s once unshakable popularity is starting to wane.
