Britain decided to play “V for Vendetta.” Durov just said it out loud 🔞

On X, he compared UK authorities’ plans to label end-to-end encryption developers as “hostile actors” to the totalitarian Britain depicted in the film. What once looked like a dystopia, he argued, now reads more like a government roadmap.

The movie, as a reminder, is set in 2027. Apparently, London decided not to wait for the deadline and deliver the dystopia early.

Genre classics apply: squeeze encryption, demand backdoors, pry into private messages, and call it “public safety.” Durov calls things by their real name — a threat to privacy.

And then a small final touch to the picture: the post about censorship… gets deleted. Artful. Almost a performance 🤔
