🚚How Traders Could Bypass a Closed Strait of Hormuz
If tankers can’t cross the strait, one workaround is land transshipment.
How it works:
1️⃣ Tankers unload crude before the strait
2️⃣ Oil moves by truck across the UAE/Oman peninsula
3️⃣ It reloads onto ships outside Hormuz
This avoids the chokepoint.
But there’s a catch.
🛢 The volumes are tiny compared to normal Hormuz flows (20 mb/d).
So it’s an emergency workaround.
Not a real replacement for the strait.
