Iran threatens to charge for undersea cables in Hormuz
According to information, a representative of the Iranian military command headquarters, Zolfaghari, announced plans to charge a fee for the lease and maintenance of the highways that provide digital communication between Europe and Asia. Refusal to pay will lead to a "disruption of communication".
Tehran demands compliance with local legislation and financial payments from technology giants, including Google, Microsoft and Amazon, as well as from cable network operators (in particular, the FALCON and Gulf Bridge International systems).
