The absence of a definitive regulatory follow-up for the CLARITY Act has left the digital asset market without the necessary momentum to sustain a recovery. Bitcoin has fallen below 67,000 USD, while ether continues to hover near 2,060 USD. This current environment is characterized by a significant liquidity drain and a shift in behavior among the market’s most influential participants.

The data reveals a widening gap in institutional sentiment. US-listed spot bitcoin ETFs recorded a subdued 9 mln USD in net inflows, whereas spot ether ETFs suffered significant outflows totaling 71.2 mln USD. This divergence is largely attributed to mounting pressure on yield-bearing assets, which have struggled to find firm footing in the current macro climate.

Corporate and whale activity highlights a fragmented market. While companies such as Metaplanet and Strategy continue to expand their holdings, others are moving in the opposite direction. Riot has been selling to cover mining costs, and Genius Group has offloaded its positions to minimize exposure. More critically, the most prominent whale cohort (> 10 mln USD) has turned positive on exchange deposits over the last seven days.

Market internals suggest a precarious setup:

  • Overall weekly exchange inflows have exceeded 5.25k BTC.

  • Ether exchange deposits from major cohorts reached nearly 123k ETH.

  • Exchange balances are currently hovering at multi-year lows, which inherently reduces tradable liquidity and amplifies the potential for sharp, volatile price swings.

The psychological landscape is equally strained. Long-term holders are showing signs of a potential 'U-turn,' with accumulation paces slowing or shifting toward distribution. Given that the aggregate investor base has been weathering net losses since mid-January 2026, the urgency to liquidate positions to preserve capital is increasing daily.

As tradable liquidity continues to dry up under persistent market pressure, do you believe we are entering a long-term consolidation phase, or is the current whale behavior a precursor to a more aggressive sell-off?
