The U.S. dollar is steadily losing its grip on global reserves. Back in 2001, it made up about 65% of worldwide foreign currency holdings â today, that figure has slid to nearly 40. Over the past 25 years, institutions have been quietly trimming their reliance on the dollar and diversifying away from it.
