How the Verification Actually Works
What Mira built is a decentralized verification network. When an AI produces an answer, Mira doesn't just accept it. The system breaks that output into individual claims, distributes them across a network of more than 110 independent AI models running on separate infrastructure, and then reaches consensus on what's actually true. Think of it like a jury system for AI outputs — multiple independent voices, one verified verdict.
Each verified output comes with a cryptographic certificate — an auditable, tamper-proof record of what was checked, how, and by which models. No central authority calls the shots. No single company decides what's true. The consensus emerges from the network itself.
The speed matters too. Each verification cycle completes in under 30 seconds — fast enough for enterprise workflows where the alternative is hours of human fact-checking. This isn't just infrastructure for its own sake. It's the layer that makes autonomous AI actually deployable in contexts where errors carry real consequences.

And this isn't just theory. The network is already processing over 3 billion tokens daily, serving more than 4 million users across its ecosystem applications. That's important — a lot of AI crypto projects talk big but don't have real usage. Mira at least has serious traction on the board.

You can tell the team isn't just building infrastructure and hoping developers show up. They're pushing real consumer use cases, generating actual usage data, and proving the verification layer works in production before asking the world to build on it.
From a builder's perspective, they're clearly trying to lower friction too. The SDK gives developers one clean API to route between models, handle errors, and manage usage across providers. Anyone who has worked with multiple LLM providers at once knows how messy that gets. This part actually solves a real pain.
The Growth Story in Numbers
The numbers tell a story that's easy to miss if you're only watching token price. By March 2025, the network had already reached 2.5 million users and 2 billion tokens processed daily — a milestone the team described as equivalent to processing half of Wikipedia's content every single day, or generating 7.9 million images daily. The network has continued to grow from there.
Now Let's Talk Token
The MIRA token is the economic engine of the network. It rewards validators who verify outputs honestly, covers network fees, and will eventually power governance decisions. Total supply is capped at one billion, deployed on the Base blockchain as an ERC-20 token. At its Token Generation Event on September 26, 2025, 19.12% of supply entered circulation — a conservative initial float designed to limit early sell pressure.
The staking mechanic matters here. Node operators must stake MIRA to participate in verification. If they behave dishonestly, they face slashing — losing staked tokens. This creates real economic skin in the game, aligning validator incentives with network accuracy. It's the same security model that underpins major proof-of-stake blockchains, applied to AI verification.
But — and this is important — the token only really works long-term if the network keeps getting real developer adoption. Verification layers live or die on usage. If builders don't plug in, the token story gets weak fast. If they do, the flywheel could get genuinely interesting.
The Backing Behind It
Funding-wise, the project raised $9 million in a seed round announced July 2024, co-led by BITKRAFT Ventures and Framework Ventures, with participation from Accel, Mechanism Capital, Crucible, Folius Ventures, and SALT Fund. Not a random set of names. BITKRAFT manages over $900M in assets across six funds and focuses on interactive tech. Framework has a track record of early bets on DeFi infrastructure — Chainlink, Aave, Synthetix. Accel has backed Facebook, Slack, and Dropbox. These are firms that take infrastructure bets seriously.
Notable angels include Sandeep Nailwal (co-founder of Polygon), Balaji Srinivasan, and Alex Svanevik (CEO of Nansen) — each ideologically aligned with the thesis that cryptographic verification is the natural foundation for trustworthy AI.
An additional $850,000 was raised through two community node sales in December 2024 and January 2025, bootstrapping the validator network from actual community participants rather than purely institutional capital. That's a healthy signal.
In August 2025, Mira also launched an independent foundation alongside a $10 million Builder Fund to attract developers. The Kaito partnership extends reach into the professional AI analytics community. The x402 payment integration enables real-time on-chain payments for verification services. The Irys partnership improves decentralized data storage and network resilience. Each move builds out the ecosystem stack.
The Big Picture Bet
Zooming out, the big bet here is pretty clear. As AI moves from writing tweets to making real decisions, trust becomes everything. Enterprises are not going to hand over critical workflows to systems that might hallucinate at the wrong moment. Healthcare systems, legal platforms, financial institutions — they all need documented, auditable, verified AI outputs before they can deploy autonomously.
The EU AI Act, now in full enforcement, puts AI systems used in healthcare, employment, credit, and education in "high-risk" categories requiring accuracy documentation and audit trails. Fines for non-compliance reach 30 million euros or 6% of global turnover. A Mira integration that automatically generates compliance-grade cryptographic certificates isn't just a technical feature. For enterprises operating in regulated markets, it's a compliance solution with a directly calculable ROI.
If verified AI becomes the standard — and it probably will at some point — then Mira is early in a very important lane. The global AI infrastructure market is projected to reach $758 billion by 2029, growing through $101 billion in 2026 alone. Verification infrastructure capturing even a small slice of that is a very large number.
The Risks Are Real Too
The tech is complex. Competition will heat up. And crypto loves to price narratives way before real adoption arrives. MIRA launched on Binance in September 2025 with an initial FDV of $1.4 billion, then experienced significant price correction alongside most 2025 token launches — research found roughly 85% of that cohort traded below TGE price. With ~80% of supply still locked at listing, future unlock pressure is real and worth understanding before engaging. All the usual warnings apply. This is infrastructure in an early market, not a finished product.
The direction makes sense. The execution is still being proven. The team has the right backgrounds — Amazon Alexa, Stader Labs, Accel, BCG, IIT, Columbia. The investors are serious. The products are live. The usage is real. But building decentralized AI verification at scale has never been done before, and there's no guarantee of success.
AI doesn't just need to be smarter.
It needs to be provably right.
