Four friends chip in to buy an NFT together. The seller says the price is 40 ETH, so each friend sends 10 ETH.

Later, the seller realizes the NFT was only supposed to cost 36 ETH, not 40. Feeling honest, he sends 4 ETH back via airdrop — but only in 1 ETH tokens.

Now he faces a dilemma: How do you split 4 ETH among 4 people evenly when it’s already broken into 1 ETH chunks?

So he gives 1 ETH back to each friend, and keeps the last ETH as a “gas tip.”

Now each friend effectively paid 9 ETH (10 - 1), totaling 36 ETH, and the seller kept 1 ETH.

But wait — 36 ETH + 1 ETH = 37 ETH. What happened to the other 3 ETH? 😱$ETH
