In its early stage, BNB was listed under conditions that reflected an unstable and highly speculative market. According to the account, its first trading session took place around noon on May 14, 2017, marked by intense selling pressure while buying demand remained weak and sporadic. Changpeng Zhao (CZ) quickly recognized a key dynamic: many participants had planned to buy earlier but chose to sell immediately upon listing, aiming for short-term profits. This behavior created a clear imbalance between supply and demand. At the same time, community channels were filled with mixed and often negative reactions, placing significant pressure on the team.

One positive outcome, however, was that the trading system remained stable. In that context, CZ raised an important question: why were the platform’s fundamentals—such as a clean interface, strong performance, and fast response time—not being recognized by the market?

Rather than pausing, CZ continued to focus on execution. He worked relentlessly to improve the product: upgrading the interface, enhancing user experience, reducing trading fees, and introducing new features. Despite these efforts, in the early phase, platform performance and user growth did not immediately translate into BNB’s price appreciation.

A notable strategy was CZ’s consistent and direct engagement with the community through frequent livestreams. Despite ongoing criticism, he chose transparency and visibility over traditional PR shielding. The underlying belief was that, in the blockchain era, users value authenticity and openness more than polished but distant messaging.

Over time, as the Binance ecosystem expanded, the value of BNB gradually became more widely recognized.

Another case is Pi Network. This project adopted a different approach by revealing its team early and focusing on long-term community building.
