“You’re Just Lucky” – The Biggest Lie Told to Bitcoin Holders
I saw a post today that perfectly nailed something I’ve felt for years.
“Everyone who held Bitcoin through the bear market is ‘just lucky.’
The people who panic sold at the bottom were being ‘smart.’”
And then… the market recovers. Suddenly the holders become “lucky” again, while those who sold low are quietly forgotten.
This narrative repeats every single cycle.
When Bitcoin drops 50-70%, the same voices come out:
• “It’s going to zero.”
• “You’re delusional for holding.”
• “You should have sold at the top.”
But when the price recovers and makes new highs, they flip the script: “Wow, you got lucky.”
My Honest Take
Luck is buying a lottery ticket.
Conviction is holding an asset through 80%+ drawdowns because you actually understand what you own and why it has value.
I’ve been through multiple bear markets. The pain is real. The doubt is real. Watching your portfolio bleed for months (sometimes years) tests every fiber of your belief.
But the people who make life-changing money in Bitcoin aren’t usually the smartest traders. They’re usually the ones who had the discipline and conviction to hold when it was the hardest.
Holding through a bear market isn’t luck.
It’s the entry price you pay for being present during the next bull market.
Personally, I’ve stopped caring about being called “lucky.” I know the difference between gambling and making a calculated long-term bet on the hardest money ever created.
The people who call holders lucky are usually the same ones who FOMO in at the top and panic sell at the bottom — then repeat the cycle.

Cuando compramos un activo basados en un análisis sólido y en fundamentos reales, entramos en el periodo de gestación. Quien no sabe esperar, desentierra la semilla cada dos días para ver si está creciendo, terminando por matar la planta. Cuántas veces hemos vendido en pérdidas por pura ansiedad, solo para ver cómo ese mismo token se dispara semanas después. El mercado es un mecanismo diseñado para transferir dinero de los impacientes a los pacientes.
La espera no es pereza, es acumulación de energía.
En la cultura oriental, el bambú tarda cinco años en echar raíces antes de crecer treinta metros en solo seis semanas. En las criptomonedas ocurre igual. Los periodos de lateralización, donde el precio parece muerto y aburrido, son el bambú echando raíces. Es ahí donde las "manos fuertes" acumulan, mientras la masa se desespera y se va.
Aprender a esperar es aprender a dominar la mente. Si tu portafolio está en rojo pero tu tesis de inversión sigue siendo válida, la espera es tu mayor fortaleza. No mires la gráfica cada hora. Respira. Sal a caminar. El mercado tiene sus propios ciclos, igual que las estaciones del año. No puedes forzar al verano a llegar en pleno invierno.
En este viaje cripto, que tu mente sea como el agua: tranquila en la superficie, profunda y paciente en el fondo. Quien domina la espera, domina el mercado.
