Here’s a simple historical truth:
A technology can change the world —
and most investors in it can still go bankrupt.
Railroads transformed transportation.
Radio reshaped communication.
The internet rewired the global economy.
But in each of those booms, the majority of companies disappeared. Investors funded massive infrastructure before real profits existed. Capital flowed on narratives of “future dominance,” not on sustainable cash flow.
That’s the uncomfortable similarity with AI today.
AI may absolutely be revolutionary.
But much of the current investment wave is based on expectations, not durable profitability.
Many AI companies generate revenue, but not real profits.
They consume investor capital at enormous scale.
There’s irony here:
