Midnight’s Scavenger Mine Lets You Earn $NIGHT by Contributing Compute — Not Just by Holding Tokens

Most token distributions reward people for what they already have. Midnight’s second distribution phase rewards people for what they actually do.

The Scavenger Mine runs for 30 days after the Glacier Drop closes. Every day is a separate slot — beginning at 0:00 UTC — with its own token pool drawn from unclaimed Glacier Drop supply. Participants complete computational tasks and submit cryptographic proofs of their solutions. Daily rewards are allocated proportionally to each participant’s share of total computation completed that day.

A minimum of 1% of the total 24 billion $NIGHT supply is guaranteed for Scavenger Mine participants regardless of Glacier Drop uptake. The puzzles are specifically designed to be accessible to general hardware — not optimized for industrial mining rigs — which is a deliberate choice to prevent reward concentration among large operators.

What I find genuinely interesting about @MidnightNtwrk’s approach here: Scavenger Mine participants don’t need to have qualified for Glacier Drop at all. Entirely new participants can enter the distribution at this stage.

The tokens claimed here follow the same four-installment thawing schedule as Glacier Drop — unlocking in 25% tranches over 360 days.

This part deserves more attention than it’s getting.
