The CFTC sued Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, the state, and gaming officials on Thursday, arguing federal law preempts Illinois action against prediction markets. The complaint said Illinois sent cease-and-desist letters over the past year to Kalshi, Crypto.com, and Polymarket. The CFTC asked the court for a permanent injunction to stop Illinois from enforcing the challenged provisions against CFTC-regulated designated contract markets.
