Fishermen in Indonesia catch Chinese underwater drone

Off the coast of Lombok Island in Indonesia, fishermen caught a Chinese underwater drone measuring approximately 3.7 meters in length, according to local media reports.

It was found near the Lombok Strait—a strategically important waterway between the Pacific and Indian Oceans, closely monitored by the United States and Australia.

After the device was brought ashore, police examined it and declared it free of explosives and radioactive materials.

The logo of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and Chinese characters indicating the Marine Research Institute were found on the drone.
