Apple has announced the appointment of John Ternos, head of hardware engineering, as its new CEO, succeeding Tim Cook, who will become executive chairman after 15 years in that role.
The selection of Ternos from within the company is seen as a move to maintain continuity in management, particularly given his pivotal role in developing Apple's flagship products, most notably the iPhone.
