You’ll eventually learn this through experience, but it’s better to understand it early:

assets with less than ~5 years of data are not ideal for systematic trading.

Without enough historical data, you can’t properly validate an edge across different market conditions—trends, ranges, volatility shifts, news cycles.

Many newer pairs (especially memecoins) may move aggressively, but that doesn’t equal reliability.

In most cases, it’s closer to speculation than structured trading.

If your strategy can’t be tested over a meaningful period, you’re not trading an edge—you’re taking a bet.
