🇹🇷🇮🇷 While everyone was watching Iran, Erdogan quietly dismantled what was left of Turkish democracy

The opposition leader arrested. The main opposition party's headquarters stormed by riot police. A court ruling effectively neutering the CHP while the world's cameras pointed at the Strait of Hormuz.

Iraq just bought 20 Turkish air defense systems. Indonesia signed up for 60 Turkish combat drones. Portugal, a NATO member, is buying Turkish military ships. Erdogan is becoming the arms dealer of the new world disorder, and every country watching American credibility erode in the Middle East is his potential customer.

He's been in power for 25 years. He's never had a better moment than this one.

The Iran war gave him the cover. The fracturing global order gave him the market. And NATO is too dependent on Turkey's military to say anything about any of it.

Game changer was the word he used. He's not wrong.
