The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has sued New Mexico officials to stop the state’s gaming laws from being applied to prediction market contracts.

According to NS3.AI, New Mexico charged Kalshi last week and said the platform lacked a license.

CFTC Chair Michael Selig said the state’s action challenges federal jurisdiction over federally regulated derivatives exchanges.
