FBI Alert: Bitcoin ATM Scams Hit $333M in 2025
Americans lost over $333 million to Bitcoin ATM scams this year, up from $250M in 2024.
Key Facts:
45,000+ Bitcoin ATMs operate across the US
Once funds are sent, recovery is nearly impossible
Average victim age: 71 years old
FBI calls it a "clear and constant rise" that's "not slowing down"
How the scam works:
Fraudsters call victims claiming their bank account is compromised or a loved one is in danger. They pressure victims to deposit cash at Bitcoin ATMs, which instantly converts to crypto and goes straight to scammer wallets.
Protect Yourself:
→ No bank or government will ever ask you to use a Bitcoin ATM
→ Never send crypto to "protect" your money
→ If rushed or pressured, it's a scam
Stay alert. Warn your Family, Especially Elderly Relatives.
