Elon Musk vs. OpenAI is going to trial

A federal judge just ruled that Elon Musk's fraud lawsuit against OpenAI can proceed to a jury trial.

The backstory:

Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 as a nonprofit to build AI "for the good of humanity." He contributed ~$40M to the cause. Now it's valued at $500 billion.

The allegation:

Sam Altman and Greg Brockman secretly plotted to flip OpenAI into a for-profit company, and misled him about it.

The evidence:

A 2017 diary entry from Brockman surfaced where he wrote about wanting to become a billionaire: "We've been thinking that maybe we should just flip to a for profit."

What's next:

Both Musk and Altman will likely testify under oath. Trial is set for March.
