😳 Spain helped a sanctioned Russian tanker avoid detention.
On January 22, the Chariot Tide suffered engine failure within Spain’s jurisdiction. Instead of detaining the sanctioned vessel, a Spanish rescue ship escorted it to international waters heading toward Morocco. The tanker then docked at a Moroccan port.
The reasons why Spanish authorities did not take action against the “blacklisted” ship have not been disclosed.
