$100 To $0 In 5 Minutes: A Bloody Lesson Not Taught in School

"Crazy. Gone. Everything."
I stared at my phone screen with trembling hands. It was cold. The air-conditioned room suddenly felt like an oven burning my face. My trading account balance had just gone from $100 (approximately Rp1.5 million) to $0.00 in a matter of seconds.
Just five minutes ago, I felt like the king of the world. I thought I had "conquered" the market. Turns out, the market had just swallowed me alive.
If you think this is just about losing money worth a fancy dinner, you're wrong. It's about ego, greed, and one fatal mistake that beginners (and even professionals) often make.
Chronology of the Balance "Massacre"
It all started with a single notification in a Telegram group. "Accurate signal! Definitely the moon!" it said.
Without analysis, without a plan, I jumped in. I used 100x leverage—a double-edged sword that I swung at my own throat. My thinking was simple: "If it goes up 10%, I'll have $200. Easy peasy!"
Minute 1: The price moves up. I smile. My balance is now $110. I feel like a genius.
Minute 3: The price suddenly reverses. Red. The balance drops to $80. My heart starts pounding.
Minute 4: Instead of cutting my losses (stop loss), I "challenged" the market. I was silent. I prayed.
Minute 5: Margin Call. A long red candle appears mercilessly. The screen flashes, and my balance disappears.
Why Did This Happen? (Autopsy Surgery Error)
Why is my money evaporating so quickly? It's not because the market is being "evil," but because of these three cardinal sins:
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out): I'm afraid of missing the train. I buy because someone else said they'll be on, not because I know why.
Over-Leverage: Using excessive leverage without risk management is the quickest way to commit financial suicide. It only takes a 1% market move against me to wipe out everything.
Lack of a Trading Plan: I entered the battlefield without a map. I knew how to get in, but I had no plan for getting out when things went bad.
Message for those of you who still have a balance
Losing $100 may seem small to some, but the pain is the same. The embarrassment of feeling stupid is far greater than losing the money.
The expensive lesson is:
The market is not a place to gamble. It's a place where money moves from the impatient to the patient. Don't let 5 minutes of greed destroy weeks of hard work.
"Trading without knowledge is not an investment, it is a donation to the market."
