In a difficult-to-predict move, Trump and President Xi Jinping are said to be discussing a deal to “swap taxes for Fentanyl control”.
China will tighten exports of precursor chemicals, while the U.S. will cut the 20% tax on Chinese goods in half.
Observers refer to this as “version 2.0 of the trade war,” where each side wants to win – but by making the other side think they are benefiting.
Perhaps at the negotiation table, taxes are no longer the issue… but who gets the last laugh. 😏
