He asked to get paid in $BTC when no one else understood 🤯
It was 2013. Olaf Carlson-Wee landed a gig at a small startup called Coinbase. Instead of asking for his salary in dollars, he requested to be paid in Bitcoin.
His buddies thought he was nuts.
Coinbase went on to become the largest exchange in the U.S. And Olaf stacked up Bitcoin for years when it was just pennies. 📈
But that wasn't the end of it. In 2016, he left Coinbase and founded Polychain Capital, a crypto investment fund with the Bitcoin he had accumulated from his salary.
A year later, that fund skyrocketed from $4 million to $300 million. 💥
It all started by asking to get paid differently when no one else would.
Sometimes the weirdest decision is the smartest one.
