Missing person case reversed to arrest, involved in international fraud and human trafficking
Chinese internet celebrity 'Sister Orange' Zhang Mucheng, who has over 100,000 fans, suddenly went missing after visiting her boyfriend in Cambodia earlier this month, prompting a massive search by her family and the community. However, the situation took a dramatic turn on November 13, when Cambodian police confirmed that Zhang Mucheng had been arrested on charges of online fraud and cross-border human trafficking, and is being held at the Phnom Penh Correctional Center awaiting trial.
According to the detention order from the investigating judge at the Phnom Penh Primary Court, Zhang Mucheng is accused of participating in multiple fraud activities between October and November 2025, and collaborating with a criminal group to assist in luring victims from China and other places to Cambodia. Local police pointed out that some of the illegal proceeds had been transferred to her account, indicating not only her involvement in the case but also suspected collaboration with the fraud group.
