#China Grotto Corridor - Leshan Giant Buddha
The Leshan Giant Buddha is located at the confluence of the Minjiang, Qinyijiang, and Dadu Rivers in Leshan, Sichuan Province. It was carved during the Tang Dynasty between the Kaiyuan and Zhenyuan years (AD 713—803), taking about ninety years to complete.
It is the largest existing outdoor rock-carved statue in the world, depicting a seated Maitreya Buddha with a total height of 71 meters, a head height of 14.7 meters, a head width of 10 meters, with as many as 1051 hair buns, ears measuring 7 meters in length, and a foot surface large enough to accommodate over one hundred people.
