Federal Police launches mega-operation against billion-dollar money laundering with cryptocurrencies in Brazil

The Federal Police has launched a heavy offensive against financial crime. According to PANews, Operation Kryptolaundry was initiated in the Federal District, aimed at dismantling a criminal network specialized in the illegal capture of resources and money laundering through cryptocurrencies.

The action resulted in the execution of 24 search and seizure warrants and nine preventive arrests, affecting 45 individuals and businesses. Investigations reveal a scheme that moved R$ 2,7 billion (about US$ 500 million), of which R$ 404 million have already been identified as illicit gains.

The Justice has ordered the blocking of up to R$ 685 million in assets, as well as the seizure of properties and goods linked to the scheme. Those involved may face charges of money laundering, financial crimes, and organized crime, with severe penalties.

The message is clear: the net is tightening for crypto operations used as a facade for crimes in Brazil.
