From January 1, 2026, mass inspections of fireplaces will begin – even those used occasionally or recreationally. Only devices that meet the Eco-design or efficiency ≥80% (with local emission limits) are legal.

Inspectors: municipal guard, building supervision, environmental inspectors. A neighbor's report is enough...

Penalties: a fine of up to 500 PLN, an administrative fine of up to 5,000 PLN, a ban on burning!

Lack of a certificate, plaque, or documentation = problem. "Cheap tricks" (filters, caps) do not help and may worsen the situation.

Applies to about 3.5 million devices in Poland.
