The move integrates blockchain technology into Visa’s core payment infrastructure, to enable banks and financial partners to complete settlement obligations with USDC instead of relying solely on traditional systems such as SWIFT or ACH.
For consumers, this means institutions can use USDC to move money more efficiently while maintaining the same user experience of sending or receiving dollars. Settlement in USDC provides faster processing, reduced costs for cross‑border payments, and the same finality as traditional settlement method.
Cross River Bank and Lead Bank are the first institutions to go live with Visa’s USDC settlement, marks the initial rollout of the program. Larger U.S banks are expected to follow, reportedly preparing integration plans for 2026!
