I’ve seen too many people rush in for "quick riches," only to exit sadly because of reckless operations. Those who survive and make money are often not the smartest, but the most disciplined.
Here are a few survival rules that have helped me avoid countless pitfalls:
1. Never bet all your chips at once
Even with the most certain opportunities, never go all in. Going all in means you've lost all your margin for error; a normal market fluctuation could force you out prematurely. Invest in batches, only then do you have the right to stay at the table and participate in the subsequent games.
2. Only be a friend of the trend, don’t go against it
Stop thinking about bottom fishing and market topping. Real profits come from trends, not from fluctuations. Corrections in an uptrend are opportunities; rebounds in a downtrend are traps. When you can’t understand the direction, the best action is to do nothing.
3. Cut losses quickly, let profits run slowly
When losing money, the stop-loss line you set is a lifeline; if it’s triggered, you must exit without the slightest hesitation. When making money, give the market more patience, use trailing stops to protect profits, and let the right trades run as far as possible. Small losses and big gains are the only sustainable formula.
