Nanjing Museum of Art issued expert identification records: "Spring in Jiangnan" scroll was identified as a forgery by the expert group on two occasions. In June 1986, the former Ministry of Culture formulated and issued the "Measures for the Management of Museum Collections." Subsequently, in accordance with these measures, the Nanjing Museum of Art, along with the original Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Export Identification Group and Nanjing Museum identification personnel, conducted a re-examination of a batch of proposed works of calligraphy and painting for removal, confirming that they were not suitable for collection. On April 15, 1997, the Nanjing Museum of Art submitted a report to the original Jiangsu Provincial Culture Department regarding the handling of cultural relics that did not meet collection standards, requesting that "cultural relics not meeting collection standards (i.e., museum disposal items) be transferred, with the funds provided to the Provincial Cultural Relics General Store for handling." The original Jiangsu Provincial Culture Department agreed to the transfer on April 21, 1997. On May 8, 1997, the scroll "Spring in Jiangnan," identified as a forgery by experts, was transferred to the original Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics General Store, and on April 16, 2001, it was purchased by a "customer" for 6800 yuan, with the sales list explicitly stating it as "Imitation of Qiu Ying's Landscape Scroll."
